2 ) What options are available?
Some options include better budgetting and consolidation of debts. Other more formal solutions are consumer proposals and personal bankruptcy.
3 ) Can you retain some of your assets if you choose the bankruptcy solution?
Yes, you may retain: one automobile that you own that is valued at $6500 or less if needed for transportation to work, any leased automobile, furniture, household furnishings and appliances, tools of the trade, in some case, bankrupts can continue to pay their mortgage and keep the family home.
4 ) Will creditors stop collection activity when you are bankrupt?
Telephone calls from creditors and court action to collect debts will stop as the bankruptcy is started.
